Happy Birth/gotcha Day to Lady Bug!  We have had her for 2 years and we think she was 4 when we got her so that makes her 6!  She is the sweetest spaniel and loves people.

Last show of the year

Last dog show weekend of 2011 will be here tomorrow...how can time go by so fast!

Bandit, CGC!

Bandit was from Priscilla's first litter of puppies and is loved owned and trained by Cathy Bermudez in Long Island, NY.  I got a great email tonight saying he passed his CGC test!  He also was an AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy!

Happy Birthday CC!!!

Naughty Meech is one year old today!  Feels like yesterday I was picking her up from the airport!

She came such a long way and the sky is the limit!

We also had an AWESOME photo shoot on the 10th with M Nicole Fischer Photography and I can't WAIT to share pictures here.

CC also participated with Iggy Pop at Meet The Breeds at the Jacob Javits Center in NYC.  Iggy Pop is just a fantastic dog.  He was available for cuddles all day on Sunday.  CC did very well too!

I took CC for her first beach trip - the whole album goes back to last year.  The album should be public - I hope!

She is so good off lead and had a BLAST!

NADAC trial

Me and Iggy Pop joined our friends Raquel and her Chessie Reign for the NADAC agility trial.  This was our first time trying NADAC agility and we were excited to try something different.

I LOVE the courses - fast fast fast courses with tight course times - so if you have a fast dog its for you!  Lots of obstacle discrimination as well.  I was entered in Jumpers and Tunnelers.  Jumpers is just that - jumps.  No weaves - makes for fast fun!  Tunnelers is also self explanatory - all tunnels.  Tunnelers is WICKED fast and its so fun to see the dogs that realize they get to run through tunnel after tunnel.  

The BEST part about NADAC is that Cardigans are under their breed exemption!  So Iggy Pop can jump 8 inches no problem - he can even jump 4 in Veterans once he is older.  Weaves are only found in Weavers and Regular classes and there is no table or teeter in anything.  They do use Hoops which are harder than they look. 

Iggy Pop qualified in both classes he was entered in with clean runs and first places!!!  Go Iggy Pop!

New CC video

Storm

Being hit with a freak winter storm proved fun for the dogs and grumbles from me.  Counting our blessings we never lost power.  Most of my office folks had lost power so they brought into work everything from dogs to cats to kids.  

CC thought the snow was ALL FOR HER!  :)

Whirlwind weekend

Friday and Saturday CC and I played in the conformation ring and came up empty handed.

I got a phone call my best friend was in the hospital - then I found out that Priscilla was going to have a singleton puppy.  Sadly the puppy didnt make it.  :(  Priscilla is ok she is just very sore with the C-section.

I also turned 29.  Wow.

A good weekend!

CC got her first point at Palisades Kennel Club!  She also got a Puppy herding group 4!  Go beastie!

Brags!

CC earned her Canine Good Citizen title yesterday!  She passed with flying colors!

Iggy Pop took the TDI test for Therapy Dogs International and he also passed with flying colors! 

So proud of both of them!

A great teacher, he was  a dog that needed a job.  I was (still am) an uncoordinated human who was dying to try agility. And it led to an addiction....

10 years ago

10 Years ago I watched as the New York City skyline changed forever.  My family lost our priest in the tragedy and my friend lost his entire company.  He still is in the process of recovery.

Yesterday was a day to reflect and remember, I grew up in the NYC metro area my whole life.  And yes I have never seen the city so together in the months and years afterward.  Its a different air.  Watching week after week as all the local channels turned over to 24 hour news coverage looking for survivors.  I went to Ozzy Osbourne and Rob Zombie concert that December after - it was normalcy - Ozzy got a cross made up of steel from the tower. 

In February 2002 I went to my very first Westminster dog show.  Glenn Close sang God Bless America, all the service dogs were honored.  Not a dry eye in the house. 

The Freedon Tower is beautiful.  The Memorial is perfect. Rebuild and Reflect.  

Never Forget. 

End of summer blues

Well summer comes to an end way too soon.  I am looking forward to my upcoming trip to Florida in October. 

Priscilla was bred again to handsome Powell and hope there are beauitful babies this time!  :o)

CC is still evil puppy and Iggy Pop is a good boy! 

Stand Back! Theres a Hurricane Comin' Through!

Well it's about to get real.

I thought the media was the typical hype about this impending doom but its no joke.  A strong category 1 storm will make landfall in Cape May, NJ (the southernmost point) early Sunday. 

Living in the Meadowlands up by NYC we are still low lying and its not going to be a good time.  If we have to evacuate we are going to my friend Lisa's house in PA.  We stocked up on batteries bottles water flashlights and cat food.  Tomorrow i need to get dog food and top off the tank Saturday.

Iggy Pop's first venture into Open Standard Preferred saw us with a tough course. 

But since the Iggloo was a move-up I took it in stride.  He was awesome!!!  He got first OAP leg with a first place!  There was another cardigan there in our class too and he got him on time by 5 seconds.

Today Iggy Pop in true border corgi fashion got cocky and said "i dont need to listen to you" so he didnt Q.

Priscilla though had a wonderful run in novice standard and got her NAP with a first place!  Yay!

Then we tried Time2Beat.  Iggy again was wild the first part of the run but then something clicked and it was magic...he was amazing.  If he Q'd he would have had the 8 inch class.  Oh well.

DelVal Cardigan specialty

Wow!  Is all I can say about this past weekend - Priscilla picked up another Novice Standard leg in agility with a beautiful run (found in this blog).  Then Saturday was day 1 of Bryn Mawr Kennel Club which has a regional specialty for cardigans every year.  CC went Best Of Opposite Sex in Sweeps, won her regular class, AND got Best Puppy!!!!

Sunday CC was second in her sweeps class, sister Tattoo went Best Opposite in sweeps.  CC won her regular class AGAIN though - under breeder judge Steve Gladstone!

Brother JR was Reserve Winners Dog and Best Puppy today!  Keeping it in the family!

They cant all be winners...

Iggy Pop was a STAR on Thursday - he went to FreshPet as a VIP (very important pooch).  :)

We had a long wait since the video guy was late.  But he schmoozed with all the employees and they all said how incredibly awesome he is.  Then we went into the kitchen area where the shoot was going to take place.  MY arms and hands were in the video- not my choice but my not manicured nail stubs were filmed taking food out of the fridge and cutting it up (FreshPet is a manufacturer of refrigerated pet food.)

Iggy Pop was filmed sitting politely for his food and eating it (licking the bowl clean in true Corgi fashion).  And he was filmed looking longingly at the counter for more.  LOL  Afterwards he had pics taken with staff members for business cards.  They ALL loved him!

He got free samples to take home, a nice cooler (perfect for dog shows) and 25 dollars.  His first paying gig.

havent been here in awhile, but its been busy.

CC is growing like a weed!  She had her first match show and took 2nd behind her sister! 

I was in lovely southern california for a week...and man it makes Jersey look like a dirty sock.

Germs and Viruses

I seem to have caught the nasty virus that laid you all up in bed for days with a fever and sweats.

Change is a comin....

Cable company is being a crook.  I was paying 136 a month for JUST basic cable and basic internet (and I mean no movie channels, no HD, and with a DVR)

Got an offer from Verizon from my one buddy who works there to give me ALL the channels, multi-room DVR, fastest internet for 117.

I called Comcast to see if they would counter offer. They did - same thing for 159.  Uhhh....I said I need to SAVE money.

I guess this is how they treat their long time customers...

Man I need a trial or something...a month without agility is rough...See the intensity on this dogs face?  He is NO JOKE.  His first place in JWW was on a course time allowing 47 seconds and he ran it clean in 21.22.  I love this dog.  He taught me so much.  And we are still learning to be a team but we are getting there.  He runs balls out.
